Darragh Glavin joined the Blue Hens in July 2019 as men’s tennis assistant coach. Glavin previously served as a volunteer assistant coach at Princeton University since 2017.

“We are fortunate to have someone like Darragh join our program,” commented head coach Pablo Montana. “He brings so much to the table with his experiences from Princeton, which is one of the best academic and tennis programs in the nation, and from his playing days at Old Dominion. His professionalism, work ethic and character are exactly what we need right now. Darragh will be a great role model for our student-athletes.”

During his two seasons at Princeton, the Tigers collected an overall record of 38-20, including a program-record 20 wins in 2019, while Glavin helped develop the 2019 Ivy League Rookie of the Year in Karl Poling and five All-Ivy honorees.

“I’m excited about the future of this Delaware program and to be a part of developing Blue Hens student-athletes on and off the court,” Glavin remarked. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with Pablo and I’m thrilled to become a member of the Blue Hen family. During my interview process, the vision for UD’s athletics program was very clear to me and it’s something I look forward to being a part of.”

Glavid graduated from Old Dominion University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He served on the school’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee while competing with the tennis team and helping ODU reach a No. 28 ITA ranking as a senior. Glavin was a dean’s list honoree as a junior after earning a spot on the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll in 2012-13.

Glavin was an assistant tennis pro at the Wee Burn Country Club in Darien, Conn., in summer 2014 and 2015 before becoming the head tennis pro at the Shore and Country Club each of the last two summers.

A native of Athgarvan, Ireland, Glavin was a three-time All-Ireland junior champion.
